Part of the reason I became, and remain, a design nerd is love of words.

The theatre infected me with a love for the intersection of written and performed text. In the past several years the hybrid forms of graphic design, which make written words visible, have entranced me. I am lucky to live in New York City, which is literally covered with typography and lettering. I have also been fortunate to travel to countries like India, with its web of different alphabets and explosive use of color and form. I was warned that Morocco had succumbed to the slickness of digital printing, but I found plenty of hand-drawn signs to love. Here are a few French & Arabic combinations, along with some great drawings.
